Samuel Lauer | Designer
Sam first earned a university degree in German, not intentionally related to architecture at all. “I taught English in Austria. It was certainly a very significant experience for me personally. Traveling in Europe introduced me to the architecture of places, which eventually contributed to my interest in design,” Sam explains of his roundabout journey into the field. “Also, my wife was studying interior design then, and I thought her work was interesting. She’s still amused that I jumped into the field,” he adds.
He enjoys digging into details and conducting research for design projects, as well as learning new tools and technologies. Incorporating sustainable strategies to design and exploring alternative materials capture his attention, too.
“I like that we’re rethinking what we’re expecting out of our built environment—how we live and expect our homes to be,” he says. NewStudio is a good place to explore solutions with a creative and committed team.
“It’s a fast-paced work culture here,” Sam says. “There’s always something to jump on and the projects are interesting.”
