Casey McKenzie | Designer

“My interest in architecture began with art classes in junior high and high school. I took every art class they offered. I shifted into architecture in college, especially when I realized how art and physical spaces can create moods and emotional responses.”

Casey continues to explore how spaces influence the way people feel living inside them. He appreciates the collaborative nature that runs through the process for every project at NewStudio, and particularly in residential work. “It’s a great experience to have an interior designer here, sketching with me and creating side by side.”

He’s also become a bit of an architectural tourist in recent years. “I didn’t grow up traveling, so I’m making up for it now! It’s incredibly inspirational—the texture and colors in Barcelona, Spain: wow!”
