Naomi Schroeder | Architectural Intern

Naomi grew up in Viroqua, Wisconsin, where the rolling countryside supports several organic farms and many small hobby farms like her family’s. “Eating fresh produce, seeing beautiful scenery daily, studying environmental issues in high school—it all fostered a desire to contribute to positive climate action,” Naomi says. “I specifically remember reading about how buildings account for massive energy use. I wanted to help change that.” Combined with her passion for design, Naomi focused her career path on sustainable architecture.

“I believe design has the power to play an influential role in our battles against climate change,” Naomi says. “NewStudio does so much creative work with historic buildings—I’m surrounded by people who share my commitment.”

Naomi takes her environmental dedication beyond the office, too. She serves on the board for Minneapolis Climate Action and helped to plant trees as part of an urban forest initiative. “We planted trees in the Creative Enterprise Zone, so I was familiar with NewStudio’s location—and one of my trees is thriving outside our office window!”
