Aaron Lorenz | Furniture Designer and Fabricator

“Seeing people using things I’m making is so special to me,” says Aaron, who sees parallels between his interests in creating ceramics and furniture. “I’ve moved from small-scale to larger problem solving. Making things that bridge design and aesthetics with how people view and use them in the home environment has become a passion for me.”

Aaron started with a sculpture class in college that and eventually led to an MFA in Rhode Island in furniture making, followed by a sculpture internship in Washington and a furniture-making workshop in Colorado. The shift in locations along the way has also broadened his perspectives. “I like to travel to see who’s doing interesting things and exploring new ideas,” he adds.

The opportunity at NewStudio is a perfect fit to be a designer and a maker, according to Aaron. “There’s a certain freedom to create here, and it’s exciting to be part of a team that’s working to build up a more robust furniture studio inside an architectural firm.”
