St. Paul, MN is about to gain another vibrant beer garden

We are excited to share our progress on the Black Hart of St. Paul patio project! Black Hart, formerly the TownHouse, is the oldest continuously operating LGBTQIA+ bar in the city of Saint Paul and a community institution in the Midway neighborhood.

This fantastic beer garden and expansive outdoor space will feature a bocce ball court, an overhead trellis structure, and a grove of trees to provide shade and vegetation. Bringing life to a vacant lot on University Avenue, the patio design is centered on Rock “CYFI” Martinez’s stunning mural of soccer star, Megan Rapinoe.

Huge thanks to our design staff James Matthes and Devyn Smoter for bringing these renderings to life, to principal-in-charge Adam Jarvi for guiding this project through a lengthy approval process, to Wes Burdine for being such a wonderful and collaborative client, and to councilmember Mitra Jalali for her continued support and advocacy at City Hall.

Now let’s move some dirt!
