Loni Strassman | Architect

“When I was a kid growing up in Wisconsin, I’d build forts in the woods. I’ve always been drawn to putting things together,” Loni says. His Northwoods heritage helped to establish a deep respect for quality craftsmanship and beautiful design that shapes his work today.

“I’ve done the big projects—hotels, resorts, student and multi-family housing, for example—and I appreciate those complex challenges, especially the master planning. At this point in my career, I’m also interested in designing smaller spaces that are more sustainably driven and craft-oriented,” Loni says. With a collaborative approach that encourages client engagement, he brings a wealth of experience and a welcome low-key Midwestern attitude to the relationship-driven process at NewStudio. He adds, “I’m just helping to put things together. That’s what I do.”

Favorite Office Supplies:
• Paper Mate Medium Flair - Black
• Bum wad (also Sean Wagner’s favorite)

What Most People Don’t Know About Me:
I’ve been curling for more than 25 years; I am an active member of the St. Paul Curling Club.

When I’m Not At NewStudio:
I’m relaxing, running, biking, swimming a little. I’ve finished all 40 of the Wausau Woodson YMCA Triathlon events since the race started in 1979. I really don't train seriously, but I have done a couple of half-Ironman distances, too.

Football Status:
Although I’m from Wisconsin and the Packers are my team, I’m an average football fan. Nothing crazy here.
