Jan Mankarious | Interior Designer

Jan Mankarious has been drawing and painting as long as he can remember. “I was raised with kindness and encouragement,” he says. “My father was a chemistry teacher and also a talented artist; when the rest of my family pushed me toward studying science because of my strong mathematics and physics grades, he planted the idea that I could follow my own path.”

For Jan, his interior design talents as well as project management and technical capabilities meld together within a guiding principle first articulated by the noted designer Chris Pullman: “Design is not the narrow application of formal skills, it is a way of thinking.” To generate design solutions, Jan considers the needs of the client for each project and the potential uses for the space. He also infuses his work with his international perspective. “Staff at NewStudio represent many different cultural backgrounds, and we’re all working together. It’s a comfortable and exciting place to create great designs.”

Someday, I Will…
Learn Italian and visit Venice, and eventually retire in a coastal Italian town. Why Italy? Italians have developed a wonderful cuisine and they’ve created amazing art and architecture. I am a lover of the Italian culture!
