James Matthes | Architect

When James was about ten years old, his father’s drafting board caught his attention. “I couldn’t stop drawing from then on,” he says. He thought his artistic interest would be more of a hobby until he realized in his first year of college that it could be the foundation of a career. “Why not do what I love to do?” James adds, thinking back on his pivot into architecture.

James was in the second graduating class in the Bachelor of Architecture program at Dunwoody College. “I loved it there. I stayed with my cohort all five years,” he says. “It’s a supportive and connected group.” He sees those qualities in NewStudio as well, noting that the spontaneous office conversations and easy-going professionalism inspire a creative and productive atmosphere. “Everyone is ready to tackle challenges in new and different ways. Who wouldn’t want to be part of that?”
