Cheers to 2024!

We are excited to launch NewStudio News, a bi-monthly newsletter with updates and insights from our firm. From a beer garden at The Black Hart of St. Paul to Terrain Gardens at DelVal in Pennsylvania, we worked on exciting projects in 2023 and wanted to share a few moments to recap our year.

Black Hart, formerly the TownHouse, is the oldest continuously operating LGBTQIA+ bar in the city of Saint Paul and a community institution in the Midway neighborhood.

This fantastic beer garden and expansive outdoor space features a bocce ball court, an overhead trellis structure, and a grove of trees to provide shade and vegetation. Bringing life to a vacant lot on University Avenue, the patio design is centered on Rock “CYFI” Martinez’s stunning mural of soccer star, Megan Rapinoe.

Set in a pastoral landscape, Terrain at DelVal combines rustic charm with modern amenities. Previously the Market at DelVal barn, the restored space includes a retail store, nursery, garden cafe, and indoor and outdoor event spaces.

The same strategy applies to building design and construction with the goals of reducing carbon emissions to help slow climate change, honoring history, and sustaining the social fabric of communities.
