ART SHANTY 2014 [WHITE BEAR LAKE, MN]

Curling Clubhouse

In 2014 NewStudio's Curling Clubhouse design was selected as one of twenty to participate in the juried Art Shanty Projects, a nonprofit, artist-driven public art installation on the ice of White Bear Lake. After an office field trip to the Frogtown Curling Club and with the 2014 Winter Olympics overlapping the installation dates, the NewStudio team chose the curling theme for the project. The snowdrift-inspired structure functioned as a warming house and featured a small gallery of images of curling’s history. To engage visitors, NewStudio installed a modified curling sheet beside the shanty, and offered instructional diagrams and lessons.
